Sergej Milinkovic-Savic’s agent Mateja Kezman has reiterated that his client would be open to offers from other clubs in the summer.
Jose Mourinho is on the lookout for midfield reinforcements in the summer following the retirement of Michael Carrick and could see the signing of Fred go through early next month.
But Milinkovic-Savic, valued at over £100m, is another player Mourinho admires, with the 55-year-old personally travelling to watch him play for Serbia back in October.
And Kezman, speaking to Italian media outlet Calciomercato, stated once again that he and his client would entertain the numerous offers received from other clubs.
“He still has a long contract with Lazio, but as I said a few days ago, there is enormous interest in Sergej,” he said.
“In football, you never know what might happen from one day to the next, so we’ll see what the future holds. He was certainly one of the best players in Serie A this season and has the potential to become the best in the world in his role.
“Obviously playing in the Champions League is the dream of everyone who plays football, but he is only 23 years old and has plenty of time to achieve that.”
Lazio’s painful 3-2 defeat to Inter Milan on the final weekend of the Serie A season deprived them of Champions League football next term at the final hurdle, and in the process most likely confirmed that Milinkovic-Savic – their best player in that defeat and probably their best player all season – would find a new club elsewhere. Players of his quality don’t miss out on playing among Europe’s elite.
Man United can offer Champions League football and a regular starting place, regardless of what Marouane Fellaini chooses to do this summer. But United will not be the only club chomping at the bit to land his signature: a number of clubs, including Real Madrid, have registered their interest in the player and getting him signed will prove to be something of a dogfight.
