Anthony Martial causes social media meltdown by deleting Instagram posts

by Leo Nieboer

Anthony Martial has sent Manchester United fans into a state of panic by deleting all of his posts on Instagram.

The Frenchman has endured a torrid second half of the 2017/18 campaign, consigned largely to the periphery as Jose Mourinho continues to favour Alexis Sanchez on the left hand side.

He has only made six starts and managed no goals at all since the Chilean arrived in January, prompting widespread reports suggesting he will leave the club in the summer.

And Martial, by deleting all of his Instagram posts, has caused many supporters to wonder whether he may be cleaning the slate for another endeavour elsewhere having been frozen out by Mourinho.

Now, before you start to light yourself on fire, it is probably worth making note of a couple of things. Firstly, deleting all of your Instagram posts can entail many different meanings, such as merely wanting to make your content seem fresh, more original, or because you simply just felt like it.

Secondly, Martial has done this before. Two years ago. It also came during the close season and amid a breakup with a former partner.

Any sniff of a story regarding Martial this summer will be red hot, fired around the internet like a panzer and made to seem nuclear. This story here isn’t.
