Manchester United have reached an agreement with Shakhtar Donetsk to sign midfielder Fred for £44m, according to the reliable Gianluca Di Marzio.
Man United have had a free run at the midfielder, who admitted recently he wants to move to the next level, ever since Manchester City pulled out of the race to sign him in January.
M.E.N reported yesterday that a deal was very close and this was corroborated this morning by Sky Sports, claiming that talks were in “advanced stages”.
But Di Marzio, as usual, has come in with the real bomb, revealing that an agreement has been reached for £44m, adding that United are interested in Marco Arnautovic and Mario Mandzukic.

It is usually always just talk, just whispers and nuggets of truth hidden in a haystack of nonsense, until Di Marzio gets involved. And he has confirmed a notion has been brewing for the last few days: that United aren’t wasting any time during this window and have placed Fred, a replacement for Michael Carrick, on top of their priority list.
Mourinho remarked recently that he wants to add the unique quality Brazilians offer and he has got his wish early doors. This is hopefully just the start of a comprehensive overhaul of personnel this summer following a season devoid of hope or trophies.
