Manchester United target and Shakhtar Donetsk star Fred is reportedly in England ahead of a potential move to Old Trafford.

Jose Mourinho is aiming to sign the Brazilian before the World Cup begins next month and so his presence in the country could complete the deal.

United have been chasing a midfielder for some time now with Lazio’s Sergej Milinkovic-Savic the first choice player.

After being priced out of a move Mourinho then turned to Fred though there are reports that he will still attempt to sign another midfielder as well.

The Red Devils have seen Michael Carrick retire and could potentially lose Marouane Fellaini on a free contract, leaving room for two midfielders to come into the squad.

According to the Express, Fred is in England with the Brazil squad and Jose wants to take advantage of the situation by completing a deal for him before he leaves the UK again next week.

The South American nation have a friendly fixture to play at Anfield and so Manchester United could lure him to their facilities to complete the finer details.

A medical and personal terms are said to be what’s left of the deal with Shakhtar already accepting a bid from Jose Mourinho.
