Manchester United are set to announce FC Porto full-back Diogo Dalot as their first signing of the summer transfer window after triggering his €20m (£17.5m) release clause.
Dalot, who is a natural right-back but can play on both sides of the back line, has already agreed personal terms with Man United and will instantly provide strong competition for captain Antonio Valencia.
Porto are unable to contest United’s move for their young star considering his current contract expires in 2019 and his low release clause has been activated.
United have snapped up the Portugal under-21 international quickly amid interest from other European giants including Barcelona, Juventus and Real Madrid.
It is expected to be a busy summer at Old Trafford, with Jose Mourinho thought to be targeting a left-back, centre-back and defensive midfielder to bolster his squad for the 2018-19 campaign.
An official announcement confirming the transfer of Dalot is expected to be made by United and Porto in the coming days as preparations for the 2018-19 season truly commence.
