Pat Nevin has lauded Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho, claiming he almost guarantees trophies every year.
The Portuguese manager arrived at Old Trafford with the hierarchy knowing fully well that he would deliver trophies.
For all his negative traits, Mourinho can’t be denied that he is a winner and so after after the failed tenures of David Moyes and Louis van Gaal, the board hired him to steer the ship.
In his first season the former Chelsea manager won the Europa League and Carabao Cup to send United back into Champions League football too.
In his second season Jose went trophy-less but managed to get the club their highest position in the Premier League since Sir Alex Ferguson retired and Nevin prefers to focus on the positives.
According to the Sport Review, Pat said to BBC Radio 5 Live: “I am not going to be too harsh about Mourinho.
“Mourinho is the closest you can get to absolutely nailed on silverware every year apart from this year.”
Heading into his third season, there’s no one who knows more than Jose Mourinho that he must deliver the Premier League title or else his career would be heading down a terrible path.
Before arriving at Old Trafford, the former Real Madrid manager had a record in all his former clubs of winning their respective divisions in his second season in charge.
