Fabio Capello claims Cristiano Ronaldo wants Manchester United return

Former Real Madrid manager Fabio Capello claims Cristiano Ronaldo wants to return to Manchester United and reunite with Jose Mourinho.

Ronaldo has suggested that he would be open to a Man United return in the past and bizarrely hinted that he is ready to leave Real this summer immediately after they claimed a 13th Champions League by beating Liverpool 3-1 in the final last Saturday.

Zinedine Zidane’s departure has only added to the doubt over Ronaldo’s future in Spain, but Real president Florentino Perez has insisted that he is confident the Portuguese star will stay for the 2018-19 season.

Talking on Sky Sport 24, former Real and England boss Capello has only added fuel to the fire by claiming that Ronaldo wants to rejoin United and work with Mourinho again, but this time in England.

He said: “Cristiano Ronaldo’s future with Real Madrid? Cristiano wants to return to Manchester United alongside Mourinho. I think he will eventually leave Madrid to go back to England. When? This I don’t know.”

It is likely that United will go straight for Ronaldo’s team-mate Gareth Bale this summer, if he comes available, rather than waiting on the 33-year-old’s availability but both potential deals are still just pure speculation.

It would definitely be interesting to see where Ronaldo would fit in at United, considering the competition for a spot on the left-wing is as hot as ever and Romelu Lukaku has established himself as Mourinho’s man main, but it certainly be a welcome move amongst the fans.
