Joel Pereira set to leave Manchester United: report

by Marwan Harraz

Manchester United starlet Joel Pereira is reportedly set to leave the club this summer despite Jose Mourinho calling him Portugal’s best goalkeeper of his generation.

The goalkeeper is the former Real Madrid manager’s third choice in the position behind David de Gea and Sergio Romero.

Pereira has the tough task of beating not one but two capped internationals in order to secure his spot as United’s first choice keeper.

The academy man is clearly favoured by Mourinho but whether it’s enough to get him past Romero let alone De Gea is unlikely.

The Argentine though has been rumoured to be on his way out of Old Trafford himself, meaning the youngster may just have a shot at first team football after all.

According to the 4th Official, Joel is keen on a loan for first team football next season and could departure to one of the host of European clubs interested in him.

A loan move would make sense for the highly rated man but if the Sergio rumours turn out to be true then he’s better off remaining at the club.

Joel Pereira could then shadow David and feature for the Red Devils in cup competitions such as the Carabao Cup or FA Cup.
