Manchester United players welcome new arrival Fred

A number of Manchester United players have been quick to react to the £52m signing of Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred.

It was announced on Tuesday afternoon that Fred has joined Man United on a five-year deal after passing his medical on Monday and agreeing on personal terms at United’s London office on Tuesday.

Fred acts as a crucial midfield reinforcement after the retirement of Michael Carrick and Marouane Fellaini‘s inevitable departure, and the players who will actually be at the club for the 2018-19 season have reacted the Brazil international’s arrival.

Marcus Rashford left a comment on the announcement, simply saying ‘Fred the Red’, the name of the Man United mascot, while Brazilian compatriot Andreas Pereira commented: ‘Oh yes, Fred! Welcome!’.

A lot of the squad have simply liked the post – Nemanja Matic, Jesse Lingard, Romelu Lukaku, Rashford, Andreas, Chris Smalling, Marcos Rojo, Ashley Young and Victor Lindelof – as well as Fred himself.

Nemanja Matic added a direct message to Fred, stating ‘welcome to the Manchester United family’ ahead of the two playing alongside each other in midfield next season.

The 25-year-old has already sent a message to the supporters after sealing his move to the Premier League, telling them that he is ‘proud to be a red’.

Fans will get a glimpse of Fred in action for the first time as a United player this summer as he represents Brazil at the World Cup,
