Marouane Fellaini‘s Manchester United future has not yet been decided, but the player has now hinted that his next career move could be revealed in the coming days.
The midfielder’s current contract expires on 1 July and he’s expected to depart Old Trafford once the date passes in six days time following unsuccessful negotiations over a new deal due to his wage demands.
Fellaini is thought to want a weekly salary in excess of £125,000 per week, a salary which would make him one of the club’s highest earners despite his rotary status within Jose Mourinho’s squad.
He was recently asked about his future in Manchester whilst on international duty with Belgium at the Russia World Cup, to which he simply responded: ‘You will know soon.”
Mourinho is known to be a huge admirer of the 30-year-old, but The Independent report that he reluctantly agreed with the decision to refuse to meet the player’s wishes.
After he becomes a free agent, Fellaini has a choice to make amid avid interest from clubs like AC Milan, Besiktas, Fenerbache and a handful of Premier League outfits who all seem willing to pay his hefty wages.
Since joining for £28m as David Moyes’ only summer signing in 2013, the Belgium international has often been used as a scapegoat at United, but there remains a chance he could stay at the club if a reduction in demands is made.
