From Italy: Paris Saint Germain to rival Manchester United’s pursuit of Alex Sandro

by Leo Nieboer

Paris Saint Germain have entered the race to sign Manchester United target Alex Sandro from Juventus this summer, according to reports from Italy.

Jose Mourinho has expressed a desire to secure another left-back this summer and Sandro, who had a mixed 2017/18 campaign with Juventus, is believed to be the club’s main target in that area.

Some reports from Italy have stated Sandro is available for around £52m, while others have stressed that Juventus see him as part of his plans for next season.

And according to Italian media outlet Tuttosport, PSG are also looking to swoop for Sandro to compliment Dani Alves on the other side next term.

United have plenty of time left in this transfer window but, with pre-season under three weeks away, Mourinho will ideally want more than just Diogo Dalot and Fred wrapped up by that time, especially with the window closing on the eve of the Premier League season rather than the final day of August.

There is a genuine and deeply worrying possibility that Mourinho instead focuses on signing another physically imposing player to replace Marouane Fellaini, along with a young box-to-box midfielder, at the expense of somebody to replace Ashley Young next season.
