Mark Bosnich: Manchester United must stand by Jose Mourinho

Former Manchester United man Mark Bosnich insists everyone must stand by Jose Mourinho despite the criticism he’s faced so far at Old Trafford.

The Portuguese boss has had his fair share of negative feedback with many sections still unhappy though the team finished in second place, the highest position since Sir Alex Ferguson retired.

A lot of the dissatisfaction last season had to do with the way fierce rivals and eventual champions Manchester City romped to the title.

To make matters worse, United weren’t playing free-flowing, attacking football by any means and were quite inconsistent throughout the campaign.

Bosnich though believes chopping and changing managers too often is the last thing the board should do, comparing the situation to Liverpool.

According to Manchester Evening News, Mark said to Omnisport: “Just stand by him [Mourinho]. Give him the opportunity, he is second against a team in Man City who can afford anyone and get anything.

“Sometimes, even after such dominance, you have got to be patient. You don’t want to fall in a situation like Liverpool, after all those years of dominance and then all of a sudden you want to chop and change.

“Stick with this guy, he is a winner and he will bring the glorious times back. People can say what they want.”

There’s a lot of pressure on Mourinho in his third season in charge of the Red Devils to not only deliver the title but to also do so in fascinating style.

Anything short of Premier League trophy may actually see the former Real Madrid man lose his job despite winning the Europa League in his first season and finishing second last year.

Since Jose has arrived, Manchester United have had their best turn of form post-Ferguson era but it’s still not enough to please some supporters.
