Manchester United fans have been left confused as to why Alexis Sanchez wasn’t pictured with the squad as they flew out to the USA for pre-season on Sunday evening.
The forward returned to the Aon Training Complex in Carrington last week with the cluster of other players who didn’t take part in the 2018 World Cup taking place in Russia this summer.
However, every player back training over the past week were pictured at Manchester Airport apart from two – Sanchez and the departing Daley Blind.
Blind is expected to complete a £14m return to Ajax in the coming days after being told by Jose Mourinho that he is surplus to requirements, but other stars with uncertain futures such as Chris Smalling, Luke Shaw and Matteo Darmian are all heading Stateside.
It is believed that Sanchez, who is entering his first full season at Man United after joining from Arsenal in January, has been given extra time off by the United boss.
Mourinho wants the 29-year-old to return to the fold in perfect condition and full fitness to give him the best chance to make the biggest impact throughout the 2018-19 season.
Sanchez struggled in the second half of last term due to the change in tactics he was having to play to, but hopefully he’ll be much better suited to impress when August rolls around.
