Anthony Martial was in remarkably good spirits during training at the UCLA campus with Manchester United on Tuesday.
The Frenchman appeared destined to leave Old Trafford earlier this summer following comments from his agent confirming he was unhappy at Manchester United.
However, no such move has shown any signs of materialising, with Martial travelling with the squad for their pre-season tour of the United States and looking in good spirits alongside his teammates.
His teammate Joel Pereira, during a break in training yesterday, told Martial something which provoked a fit of laughter.
Perhaps he suggested Jose Mourinho would play swift, ambitious attacking football next season. Maybe he just found out that Liverpool had paid £66m for Allison, or that Dejan Lovren genuinely thinks he’s one of the best central defenders in the world.
Either way, the sight of Martial – who most expected to be gone by now – in such bright spirits ahead of United’s pre-season tour fixtures is a sight which will make supporters smile.
With only a few weeks until the transfer window shuts, time is running out for Martial to complete a move away. But as things stand there really isn’t anything to suggest the Frenchman will leave. A strong pre-season, combined with the absence of Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford, gives him plenty of time to impress in the No.9 role.
