Fred will cut short his holiday following the World Cup and join up with Manchester United’s pre-season tour next week.
The Brazilian officially became a Man United player earlier this month, signing for a fee of £52.7m from Shakhtar Donetsk.
He was part of the Brazil squad which was knocked out at the quarter-final stage by Belgium but didn’t play a single minute.
Any players who are knocked out at this stage don’t return until August, but Mourinho confirmed at a press conference on Wednesday that Fred will make an early return to the squad.

This is the sensible call for a player who, following a frustrating summer devoid of action on the pitch, will want to start putting in the hard yards with United and developing a partnership with his teammates.
With Paul Pogba and Marouane Fellaini both set to miss the start of the season – and not recover full fitness until September – Mourinho needs Fred fit and raring to go in time for Leicester City on August 10, especially with no other forward thinking midfielders in the squad.
Nemanja Matic will also join the tour next week, with David de Gea following closely behind following a torrid World Cup with Spain.
