Tahith Chong changed the direction of Manchester United’s 1-1 draw against Club America with a superb cameo from the bench.
The teenager was introduced immediately after Jose Mourinho’s men, who had faded dramatically in the second period, fell behind to a bullet header.
He drove forward with rabid intent and superb precision, bringing a badly needed sense of urgency to Man United’s attacking performance in Arizona.
Chong’s run down the right hand side and fizzing cross for Juan Mata‘s equaliser late on was the crowning moment of an exciting cameo.

Jose Mourinho has brought a litany of untested youngsters on the club’s pre-season tour with many senior players on holiday following their World Cup duties. And as a result the chances of United having another breakthrough academy star emerging from this summer is higher than ever before. Somebody, surely, will take that chance.
And that is exactly what Chong started to do in the 27 minutes he was on the pitch in Arizona, skimming up the pitch with a kind of zeal supporters love to see from youngsters. He was bold, confident, direct. The Dutch teenager rose through the ranks last season and has, just one game in, shown the world exactly what he can do.
