Fred has trained with his Manchester United teammates for the first time since joining the club last month.
The Brazilian remains Man United’s biggest deal of the summer, arriving from Shakhtar Donetsk for a fee of £52.7m.
He landed in Los Angeles on Thursday afternoon following three weeks of holiday after the World Cup, during which he didn’t play a single minute in Brazil’s journey to the quarter-final.
Fred was put through his paces by the club’s fitness coaches as he trained individually on his first day with the club.

Bit by bit, United’s team – or at least their midfield – is starting to take shape following a fallow couple of weeks with a mere skeleton of Jose Mourinho’s side. Saturday’s clash with Liverpool comes too soon for the 25-year-old but Nemanja Matic will get his first run out in the 107,000 capacity Michigan Stadium.
Next Tuesday’s meeting with Real Madrid will see Fred and Matic play together for the first time, with the hitherto impressive Andreas Pereira taking up the role of Paul Pogba.
Matic was overworked last season to the detriment of United’s play as a whole. And the driving, skilful presence of Fred will be expected to give the side’s midfield more dynamism than what we saw last year.
