Diogo Dalot trains for the first time as a Manchester United player

New Manchester United signing Diogo Dalot has been pictured training for the first time since arriving from FC Porto this summer.

Dalot moved to Man United from Portugal for £19m at the start of June and is considered to be one of the world’s most promising full-backs.

Aged 19, he hasn’t got a wealth of first-team experience under his belt but will serve as strong back-up for captain Antonio Valencia at the start of the 2018-19 season, before eventually becoming the 33-year-old’s successor.

Matteo Darmian‘s imminent return to Serie A makes Dalot’s prospects of playing a good part of the upcoming campaign quite likely and United supporters could get a glimpse of the starlet sooner than initially expected.

Dalot wasn’t meant to fully recover from a meniscus tear suffered in April until September but Jose Mourinho and his coaching staff will be feeling very good to see him running around and kicking a football this soon.

The Portugal U21 international travelled on the pre-season to the United States to settle in with his new teammates, albeit the number of stars currently on holiday after their 2018 World Cup exploits, but hasn’t yet taken part in the three friendlies.

He won’t play a part in tonight’s clash against Liverpool either, but maybe we’ll see him in action against either Real Madrid or Bayern Munich before the competitive season kicks off.
