Lazio manager Simone Inzaghi believes Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is going nowhere

Manchester United midfield target Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is expected to stay at Serie A club Lazio this summer, according to manager Simone Inzaghi.

The 23-year-old has risen like a pheonix in Italy and is now considered to be one of the most talented midfielders in Europe, which has resulted in plenty of interest from a cluster of big clubs.

Champions League winners of the last three seasons Real Madrid have been known suitors, as have Lazio’s Serie A rivals Juventus and, as it seems with every top player, Man United.

Jose Mourinho is believed to see Milinkovic-Savic as a key target but isn’t expected to make a move for him this summer after being put off by the player’s £89m valuation, leaving a big possibility of him staying in Rome for the 2018-19 campaign.

Inzaghi has confirmed that Fiorentina midfielder Milan Badelj is expected to join Lazio in the coming days, but to strengthen the club’s midfield options rather than to act as a replacement.

Many people believe that Milinkovic-Savic is too similar a player to Paul Pogba, however, the Serbia international’s box-to-box ability could make him the 25-year-old’s ideal midfield partner in front of fellow Serb Nemanja Matic.

Don’t expect Milinkovic-Savic to be a United player when the summer transfer window slams shut, but who knows that the future holds?
