Tottenham Hotspur lose interest in Anthony Martial – report

Manchester United forward Anthony Martial is no longer being targeted by Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur, according to reports on Friday.

The 22-year-old has already shown his desire to leave Man United this summer after a lack of game time due to the arrival of Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez in January.

Martial was enjoying a fine 2017-18 season as first-choice left winger, but was limited to just eight starts after Alexis joining midway through the campaign.

Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich have been said to be the Frenchman’s keenest suitors along with Chelsea and Tottenham, however, the latter are understood to not be interested in signing him anymore.

ESPN report that Spurs have given up on signing Martial to focus on their pursuit of Aston Villa winger Jack Grealish as he’s a homegrown player, increasing the chances of him staying at Old Trafford for the start of the new term.

Louis van Gaal brought the starlet to United in 2015 for £36m from AS Monaco and he had a successful debut season in England, however things haven’t quite gone as planned since.

Martial is one of the most promising players at United, there’s no doubting that, but he has consistently struggled to cement as place in Jose Mourinho’s starting line-ups.

You still wouldn’t bank on Martial being a United player at the end of the transfer window, but he certainly won’t be playing his football in North London.
