Manchester United are set to complete the signing of Tottenham’s Toby Alderweireld soon despite earlier reports claiming the move was no longer on.
The Belgian international has been a target of Jose Mourinho’s all summer long and it appears he will finally get his man before the transfer window slams shut.
The Portuguese manager had publicly stated his desire to bring in two new faces but admitted he would probably only get one.
Alderweireld would represent the signing Mourinho has been chasing for a while- a proven, experienced leader who can solidify a shaky defence.
United were thought to have turned their attentions elsewhere but perhaps it was just a smokescreen to instigate new transfer talks with Tottenham once again.
According to Manchester Evening News, the Mirror report the Red Devils have had a breakthrough in negotiations and will sign Toby within 48 hours, completing a £60m deal.
With Marcos Rojo looking set to leave to Everton, it seems his transfer is being negotiated to fund a move for the 29 year old.
The Argentine is reportedly going to leave for £30m which is not bad business at all considering it will fund half the transfer for Alderweireld and given how Manchester United are well stocked in that department.
