Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri believes Manchester United target Willian will remain with his current club despite all the rumours.
The Brazilian’s future was understood to be up in the air following the links with Jose Mourinho and how unhappy it was said he was under Antonio Conte.
However, the Italian has been replaced by Sarri and it appears the new manager has reassured the winger of his role at the club so he looks set to stay at Stamford Bridge.
Willian looked close to a move to United several times all summer but nothing materialised and it seems that opportunity is now gone.
Nonetheless one wouldn’t put it past Mourinho to continue trying to chase after his man though he may have his attention elsewhere at the moment.
According to Manchester Evening News, Maurizio said: “I spoke yesterday with him about him being late, but not his future.
“It was a very positive conversation and I am very happy about it. I think there is not a Willian problem.
“Yes, I do [think Willian will stay]. Very confident.”
United’s focus on bringing in a top quality centre-back is not a secret and so perhaps a move for Willian was put on the back burner for now.
Maybe when the winter transfer window comes around Jose will raid a rival club once again just like he did with Arsenal and Alexis Sanchez.
Then again the Portuguese manager has spoken about his dislike of investing during that time so it could be that the Willian chapter is finally over.
