Manchester United have entered the race to sign ostracised Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele, according to reports.
Jose Mourinho’s focus is on signing a central defender before the window closes on Thursday night but remains keen on adding an attacking player to the side.
Willian, Ante Rebic, Gareth Bale and Ivan Perisic have all been mentioned as options over the window but none have come close to happening.
And according to the Mail‘s Nathan Salt, Mourinho has grown frustrated with the lack of additions over the window and has demanded the board to enter the scramble to sign Dembele.
The Frenchman only joined Barcelona last summer for a mammoth £135.5m fee but the winger has so far struggled at the Nou Camp, plagued by injuries at the start and then largely left on the bench by manager Ernesto Valverde. He hardly featured at the World Cup.
But where the money will come from for such a huge talent, in such a short space of time, remains a mystery. United, it seems, are far too busy haggling for the likes of Toby Alderweireld and Jerome Boateng to start a bidding war for one of Europe’s brightest – and expensive – prospects.
