Manchester United reject offer of £45m plus Yerry Mina and Andre Gomes from Barcelona for Paul Pogba – report

Manchester United have rejected an offer of £45m plus defender Yerry Mina and midfielder Andre Gomes for Paul Pogba from Barcelona, according to a number of reports.

Jose Mourinho remains on the lookout for a central defender in this window and has reportedly expressed interest in Mina, who had a superb World Cup with Colombia but is deemed surplus to requirements by Barcelona.

Pogba, meanwhile, enjoyed an even better World Cup and has been touted by Barcelona as the man to take over from Andres Iniesta, who left over the summer.

According to the Mail, Barcelona, in what must be some sort of bad joke, have proposed to Man United a bid including £45m and the sale of two fringe players in exchange for Pogba, who arrived at Old Trafford in August 2016 for £89m.

Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola, having offered the Frenchman to Manchester City in January, has been in close contact with the Catalan side in an attempt to force a better deal for his client.

But this ‘deal’ is so bad it is almost insulting. United, in response, may as well offer £45m plus Matteo Darmian and Scott McTominay for Lionel Messi just to even things up a bit.

To think United, who would only have two days to make a replacement, would sell the nucleus of their team at all is simply laughable. Pogba is going nowhere.
