James Wilson searching for loan spell in Championship this month

Manchester United U23 star James Wilson is looking to leave the club on loan this month in search of regular first-team football.

Wilson has been in and out of the Man United U23s set-up for the past few seasons and the number of loan moves he’s completing seems to just be delaying the inevitable, a permanent move away.

Since the 22-year-old rose through the ranks, players like Angel Gomes, Tahith Chong and most notably Marcus Rashford have caught the eye and are now considered to be much bigger prospects.

According to the Manchester Evening News, not only is Wilson not in first-team plans this season, but he hasn’t got a future under Jose Mourinho after the United manager selected Joshua Bohui and Mason Greenwood over him for the pre-season tour of the United States.

Wilson made his United debut at the end of the 2013-14 season, scoring a brace against Hull City at Old Trafford which kick-started the hype surrounding his talent, but injuries have tarnished his development since.

Since that stunning debut, he’s embarked on loan spells at Brighton & Hove Albion, Derby County and Sheffield United but has struggled to make an impact in each of them.

Now he’s said to be looking for a new challenge in the Championship, although there’s firm interest in his services up in Scotland, with Aberdeen thought to be frontrunners for his signature.
