David de Gea set to sign new four-year deal at Manchester United – report

The summer transfer window was a disappointing one in terms of incomings for Manchester United but the club could be about to spring the best possible transfer news on supporters in the coming days.

It’s been rumoured for some weeks that David de Gea is set to put pen to paper on a new contract and Thibaut Courtois’ deadline day move from Chelsea to long-term admirers Real Madrid all-but sealed his stay at Old Trafford.

De Gea has been Real’s main target for a number of years and would already be their no. 1 if it wasn’t for a faulty fax machine back in 2015 after he agreed terms with the Spanish giants.

La Sexta claim that the 27-year-old will sign a four-year contract extension at Man United with the option of a further year, and will become the highest paid goalkeeper of all time in the process.

There’s no questioning whether De Gea is the world’s best stopper at the moment and he will only improve with age as he is surely still yet to reach his peak, which is unbelievable to think considering some of the stuff he can pull off in between the sticks.

Let’s hope he puts in another eye-catching performance against Brighton tomorrow!
