Manchester United fans were absolutely furious with Eric Bailly’s performance vs Brighton following the loss on Sunday evening.
Jose Mourinho’s men had a relatively easy fixture on paper for their second match of the season but failed to grab any points.
United lost 3-2 to make things look better than they were with Bailly central to much of their poor play, particularly in the first half.
Mourinho’s players found themselves 2-0 down within half an hour but managed to pull one back through Romelu Lukaku.
Eric was the one who gave away a penalty to make matters worse and head into the break trailing 3-1 to the home side.
I remember the good old days when I used to trust Bailly…

I like Bailly. But he’s having a horrible, horrible game today.

Was Bailly out in Brighton last night?

With the Red Devils not investing in a centre-half this summer despite it being desperately needed, it was the perfect opportunity for Bailly and Victor Lindelof to prove their worth.
While Chris Smalling, Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo have to fight too, the onus is on the aforementioned pair as they are the ones Mourinho bought as well as the ones most likely to develop a formidable partnership.
Lindelof certainly wasn’t safe from criticism but there’s no doubt Eric came off worse than his teammate after the Brighton loss.
