Cristiano Ronaldo set for Old Trafford return as Manchester United draw Juventus, Valencia and Young Boys

Cristiano Ronaldo will return to Old Trafford this season after Manchester United drew Juventus, Valencia and Young Boys in the Champions League draw.

The five time Ballon d’Or winner, who left Man United in 2012, scored in both legs against his former club back in his only competitive appearance against them in 2012, with Real Madrid winning 3-2 on aggregate.

United last took on Valencia in 2011 – when they went to the final – and won 1-0 in the Mestalla before drawing 1-1 in the reverse fixture at Old Trafford.

Young Boys, a club based in Bern, will play United for the first time in their history, with Mourinho facing Swiss opposition for the second consecutive season.

This is no easy group. Juventus possess one of the best home records in all of Europe and their visit to Old Trafford will be dominated by Ronaldo once again facing his old club. Paul Pogba will also go up against his past employers for the first time.

Valencia – who Andreas Pereira played for on loan last season – are a likewise dangerous opponent having undergone an impressive renaissance under Marcelino. The Mestalla is a landmark stadium with one of the best atmospheres in Europe.

Last year saw United walk through their Champions League group. They will have to battle hard to get out of this one.
