Manchester United will look to sign Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic to replace all proper, should the Frenchman decide to leave the club to join Barcelona.

According to The Indepdendent, Milinkovic-Savic represents United’s first choice replacement for Pogba, who has been flirting with Barcelona in recent weeks.

The Serbian was heavily linked with Man United in the 2017 summer transfer window, but was deemed to cost too much by most major European clubs. Savic has remained at his current club in Serie A despite interest from Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and AC Milan as well as United.

Now 23, the Lazio man has plenty of time left to sign for one of the continent’s biggest clubs and is aiming to help the Rome side qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

Miguel Delaney in the independent indicated that Mourinho is not against selling Pogba and bringing someone new into his midfield, with Milinkovic-Savic his number one choice.

Should United choose to sell Pogba, they will have to demand a huge sum given the current state of transfer fees. The Frenchman signed for the club for £89 million from Juventus in 2016. Since there, five players have moved for over £100 million.

In 2017, it was said that Lazio would demand £100 million for Milinkovic-Savic. Now he’ll be worth more. So, too, should Pogba, and United must consider now much his replacement will cost if they sell him to Barcelona.
