Neymar calls Paul Pogba to convince midfielder to leave Manchester United for Paris Saint-Germain – report

Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar has called Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba to try and gauge whether he’d be willing to make a move to France at some point.

Pogba is unsettled at Man United and his relationship with manager Jose Mourinho is strained at best.

The pair have been publicly sparring in the press for some weeks now. The Frenchman was stripped of the captaincy recently by Mourinho, who was displeased with Pogba’s comments that seemed to criticise United’s style of play at Old Trafford.

Neymar signed for Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2017 in a deal that changed football forever. The €222m transfer broke every record in the book and ensured that the transfer market, and the value within it, became exaggerated instantly.

Pogba had been the most expensive player in the world when he left Juventus to re-join United for £89m in 2016. Neymar’s deal completely eclipsed that, and the pair could be united at PSG.

The French champions are one of the only clubs who can afford Pogba, who would cost at least £150m, it’s expected.

Neymar and Pogba have had a good relationship for a number of years. Goal report that the Brazilian called Pogba in September to ask him if he was happy at Man United and whether he’d be interested in leaving the club for PSG.

Pogba is a hero in France after being a key member of the summer’s World Cup winning squad. He grew up about an hour from PSG’s stadium.

It’s reported that Neymar has tried once to play with Pogba, trying to get the midfielder to join Barcelona in 2016 when he chose United instead.

PSG have invested hugely in their side as they desperately chase glory in the UEFA Champions League. Perhaps Pogba could be next.
