Ryan Giggs: Pressure will leave Jose Mourinho after a few wins

by Marwan Harraz

Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has backed Jose Mourinho to turn things around but without sending him a strong message first.

The Portuguese boss is under relentless pressure following his side’s poor start to the season that sees them seven points off the top already.

There was already expectations on United to challenge for the title given how they finished in second place last campaign but it seems those hopes are long gone.

There’s definitely still time for Mourinho to rescue his job and Giggs believes the club have the right manager at the helm.

It’s not the first time the Welshman has offered his support to the former Chelsea manager and he’s reiterated his opinion despite the slow start to the season.

According to Manchester Evening News, Ryan said to Football Focus: “”No, I don’t believe that. I believe they have got a top manager at the club, they have got good players, and at the moment it is a challenge.

“The quality is there – the firepower is there to go out and to get the top players. But without a shadow of a doubt there are a few things that need fixing.

“Yeah he can (fix them) he is a top manager, but the pressure won’t go away until we start climbing the table.”

The next few weeks will pretty much make or break Jose’s career at Old Trafford given the quality of opposition.

The Red Devils will face the likes of Chelsea, Juventus twice and Manchester City as the season starts to heat up.

Wins against them all would definitely give a better outlook on the campaign as a whole but it’ll take some effort to emerge unscathed.

With Zinedine Zidane lurking in the back of everyone’s minds, Mourinho would do well to last the season.
