Manchester United could face punishment from UEFA after three pitch invaders had to be removed during their 0-1 defeat to Juventus on Tuesday night, according to reports.
A man wearing a Man United shirt managed to run the length of the pitch towards Cristiano Ronaldo, who took a selfie with him and gave the man a high five after he had been tackled to the ground by security guards.
Two other invaders managed to get past stewards as Ronaldo walked off the pitch to a series of ‘Viva Ronaldo’ chants from the Stretford End, but were wrestled away from view before they got on the pitch.
According to the M.E.N‘s Ciaran Kelly, United face a mandatory punishment of £15,000 from UEFA for allowing invaders to get close to Ronaldo – a man who is so used to having pitch invaders come up to him that he will probably prepare goody bags for the situation from now on.
United could therefore have the same number of UEFA punishments as home wins this season following their fine for turning up late ahead of their 0-0 draw with Valencia earlier this month.
