De Gea “more and more convinced” that he’ll commit future to Manchester United – report

David de Gea and the goalkeeper’s representatives are becoming “more and more convinced” that the best option for him is to stay at Manchester United for the long-term future.

Italian outlet Calciomercato reports that Man United have tabled an ‘important’ proposal with regards to De Gea.

Sport Witness have relayed the news from Calciomercato, who frequently report on Premier League transfer news. De Gea is represented by Jorge Mendes, also the agent of Cristiano Ronaldo and Joao Cancelo, who signed for Juventus in the summer.

Mendes represents Man United manager Jose Mourinho, too. De Gea has been linked to Juventus due to Ronaldo and Cancelo’s recent moves.

However, Calciomercato insists the 27-year-old hasn’t spoken to the Serie A club at all, partly due to their happiness with their current goalkeepers but also due to the potential cost of De Gea.

They suggest that instead De Gea will sign a new deal at Old Trafford.

It would be a massive boost to United. The Spaniard’s current deal expires at the end of the season and although United have the option to trigger a one-year extension in De Gea’s contract, the club are desperate to secure his long-term future.

Luke Shaw has recently penned a new deal and Anthony Martial could follow. De Gea would be the biggest news, though. He is undoubtedly United’s best player.
