Two ‘obstacles’ to Jose Mourinho returning to Real Madrid revealed by Spanish media

There are two obstacles for Real Madrid if they wish to re-appoint Jose Mourinho as manager, it has been revealed.

The current Manchester United boss is under significant pressure at Old Trafford, although it’s thought to be unlikely that he could be sacked in the coming weeks. That’s partly due to a lack of ready-made replacements waiting in the wings.

For Real Madrid manager Julen Lopetegui, though, that is a real possibility. Mourinho has been linked to his old job on a number of occasions, although strongly denied that he had spoken to Los Blancos and insisted he did not want to leave Man United.

Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo explain that a win for Lopetegui in the upcoming El Clásico against Barcelona will give him a lifeline at Real Madrid. A defeat, though, could see him face the chop.

They also claim that Real Madrid could be forced to look elsewhere other than Mourinho for two reasons.

Mundo, as per Sport Witness, suggests that Mourinho’s long-term contract at United is a major hurdle and that, more importantly, the wages that the Portuguese coach would demand are significantly higher than what the La Liga side wish to pay their new manager.

There are labelled as genuine ‘obstacles’ to any deal. Whether that is a positive for United or a negative is up to the specific views of the United fan reading.

However, whatever a fan’s thoughts on Mourinho, less drama is clearly needed at Old Trafford. Thus, if links between Mourinho and Real Madrid are to end, that can only be a good thing.
