Joshua King: I left Manchester United because of Sir Alex Ferguson

Former Manchester United striker Joshua King has revealed he left the club due a decision Sir Alex Ferguson took that left him fuming.

The now Bournemouth man was once touted for a bright future at Old Trafford but ended up departing earlier than expected.

The Norwegian has certainly proved his worth at his new club and is enjoying his time playing Premier League football.

King did admit he was offered a contract by United but was upset with Sir Alex for preferring Federico Macheda to him at the time.

The pacy forward would soon move on to Blackburn as he attempted to build himself a future away from his former side.

According to the Express, Joshua said to Sky Sports: “I was offered a new contract. But I just felt it was time to play. I was 21 and I didn’t want to play reserve football.

“I was in the squad for a Champions League game against Galatasaray. I said to myself before the game ‘if I play this game I sign’.

“That’s a sign I’m going to sign. I’ll just stay and be patient. And he put Federico Macheda on before me and I came on the last four minutes.

“That got me so angry, the next day I signed for Blackburn.”

At the time it did seem as though there was no route to the starting XI for King but fans did hope he would remain patient.

Who knows, had he waited a little longer then he would’ve witnessed Macheda struggle to build on the fantastic start that fans couldn’t believe.

Joshua could’ve potentially taken advantage of that situation and continued going from strength to strength but unfortunately things didn’t work out that way for him or the Red Devils.

Nonetheless all that happened has paved the way for another club youngster in the shape of Marcus Rashford who many hope can succeed.
