Paul Pogba confirms he will be “back soon” from injury

Paul Pogba has confirmed that he will return to action for Manchester United “soon” after picking up an injury last week.

The Frenchman picked up a slight injury during the 2-1 win over Juventus and missed the Manchester derby on Sunday as a result.

He flew to France ahead of November internationals but was, along with the recalled Anthony Martial, ruled out through injury.

Pogba took to social media earlier this week to stress that his injury was not serious.

To see Man United’s midfield reduced to a series of flailing limbs and desperate lunges against Manchester City in the absence of Pogba, while Pep Guardiola’s side functioned seamlessly without star man Kevin de Bruyne, was a damning indictment of how far apart the two teams are in terms of overall, collective quality.

More importantly, the afternoon once again underscored how United, without Pogba, enter a new level of sluggishess and entropy, somehow going from a top four team to a side which you wouldn’t even fancy to beat teams like Crystal Palace.

Supporters should not have to pin their team’s chances of winning on the fitness and form of one player. That was never the case even with Cristiano Ronaldo in the team back in 2008. Unfortunately, though, this current side has become totally ineffective in the absence of Pogba – especially in the games that matter.
