Neil Custis: Marcus Rashford to consider Real Madrid move if not handed more starts at Manchester United

by Leo Nieboer

Marcus Rashford will consider joining Real Madrid in the summer if he fails to nail down a starting place at Manchester United this season, according to the Sun‘s chief football reporter, Neil Custis.

The youngster’s performances for England this season, coupled with limited Premier League starts under Jose Mourinho (only five from 12 games), has led to many speculating whether he would be better off playing elsewhere.

Rashford has reportedly attracted the attention of Juventus and Real Madrid, with both clubs looking for youthful attacking reinforcements.

According to Custis, who Mourinho mocked for reporting on a supposed phone call he received from Zinedine Zidane, the European champions have made contact with Rashford’s camp to stress that their interest was real.

Representatives from the Spanish club were present for England’s 2-1 win over Croatia on Sunday to see the youngster in action.

Rashford is happy at United, the club he supported as a boy, and has not seriously considered leaving given his continued opportunities under Mourinho.

According to this report, however, the 21-year-old has found this season difficult for his progression, and may well consider his options in the summer should his situation fail to improve.

But one thing is for sure: Real Madrid is not the place for Rashford to go if he wants more minutes on the pitch.
