Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has reportedly targeted Porto’s Eder Militao as a possible signing for the January transfer window.
The Portuguese manager has been keen on defensive reinforcements since the summer but was left empty handed other than the young and lowkey signing of Diogo Dalot.
United have experienced a defensive crisis all season long with errors and poor defending constantly resulting in disappointing results.
Mourinho’s defenders have also continued to be absent due to injuries as his frustrations continue to grow.
The former Chelsea boss certainly hopes the board will address his concerns this winter and it seems Militao has been made his main man.
According to Sports Mole, the Red Devils are considering triggering the €50m release clause as Eder is a cheaper alternative to Kalidou Koulibaly who would cost £90m.
Jose’s stars have actually scored as just two goals less than the so called free flowing attacking Tottenham but have conceded ten more goals.
It’s clear the difference between being in the Champions League qualification spots and out of European qualification entirely has been the defence.
Mourinho has previously raided Porto for Dalot and it seems he may reluctantly do so again given how his main target Koulibaly won’t be signed by the board.
