Anthony Martial has agreed a new five-year contract at Manchester United, with an announcement set to happen this week, according to RMC Sport journalist Mohamed Bouhafsi.
Jose Mourinho was willing to let Martial leave over the summer and it was claimed by the Frenchman’s agent in June that they would look for a move elsewhere.
But Martial’s situation at Old Trafford has taken a U-turn in recent weeks. According to the BBC, a ‘significant breakthrough’ in talks have been made this month, and media outlets are all pointing towards a new contract being agreed.
And according to Bouhafsi, a well-informed journalist for RMC, the contract will be signed this week ahead of an official announcement.

It very much felt like the end of the line for Martial in June. He had just spent six months watching Alexis Sanchez from the bench and his form, as a result, was in tatters. Mourinho, like with so many players, had lost a sense of trust in Martial.
But that performance in Switzerland against Young Boys changed the dynamic for the 22-year-old. With Alexis badly out of form, Martial took full advantage, and amid the chaos under Mourinho he continued to score goals and deliver strong performances when such things seemed impossible.
He has only continued to soar under Solskjaer. United cannot afford to let him go anywhere.
