Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard ‘serious doubts’ to face Chelsea – report

Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard are ‘serious doubts’ for Manchester United’s FA Cup fifth round clash with Chelsea on Monday night, according to reports.

The pair were both forced off with knocks at half time during Man United’s 2-0 defeat to Paris Saint Germain in the Champions League.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed after the game that both players had suffered muscle injuries and would have to await the results of scans before determining the extent of their respective afflictions.

And according to the Telegraph‘s James Ducker, Martial and Lingard look very unlikely to line up against Chelsea, and may even be doubts for United’s huge clash with Liverpool on February 24.

Following a honeymoon period, we find ourselves coming back to reality: a sobering defeat and now, to compound things, two key players potentially out for a pair of massive games.

Suddenly, Solskjaer has serious obstacles to overcome. He will be aware that losing one player from that front six seriously jeopardises the quality of United’s attacks going forward. How does he respond? Who plays instead? Does he alter formation at all?

These are questions he must ask himself and answer properly ahead of two season-defining games.
