Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has called for Paul Pogba to return to his early form under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as Barcelona loom on the horizon.
The Frenchman was outstanding in the first few fixtures under the Norwegian but has since cooled off.
Solskjaer put it down to phases of time when everything goes in his favour while during other phases of time it doesn’t quite click the same.
Scholes believes in Pogba’s quality and has insisted he is one of the few players who must stay at United but he has called on the player to find his form again.
The midfielder then went on to grab two match-winning penalties against West Ham but there were some fans who believed he could’ve done more.
According to the Express, Scholes said: “I want to see the Paul Pogba that started when Ole came in. His first six or seven games, I’ll stretch that to 10, 11 games.
“The quality of him, the assists, the goals he scored were fantastic. It just seems like the last few weeks have been a bit of a struggle for him.
“He seems to be slipping into his old ways a little bit. Taking too many touches on the ball, not passing and he needs to get back to it.
“We know what quality this player has, he’s such a powerful player. He can strike a ball, he can make a goal, he can score goals.
“He’s what we need, he’s what Manchester United need in this team, which is real quality.”
There’s no doubt Pogba is the only other Manchester United player apart from David de Gea who may deserve the honour of being called a world-class player.
The former Juventus star has split fans though with some feeling he’s far too inconsistent to be considered top quality.
They feel Paul is only able to ‘turn it on’ when he’s in the mood rather than constantly churning out top performances.
Despite all the criticisms however, the academy product is putting out the best numbers of his career to date so whatever he’s doing is clearly working.
