Paris Saint Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot yet to make up mind over Manchester United move

by Leo Nieboer

Paris Saint Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot spoke effusively of Manchester United but insisted he was yet to make a decision over his next move.

Man United are in serious need of midfield reinforcements following the departures of Marouane Fellaini and Ander Herrera this year.

Rabiot, meanwhile, is destined for a move away from Paris after a season in exile under manager Thomas Tuchel, who has publicly castigated the midfielder’s attitude on more than one occasion.

Speaking in a recent interview, the 24-year-old was complimentary of United and Juventus, his two main suitors, but stressed he would take some time to consider his options.

One option not available to Rabiot is to stay at PSG, especially after Tuchel was given a new contract. There is always something tantalising about a player who will definitely leave, but whose actual next destination could be anywhere.

Signing Rabiot would be an expedient move from United, a club devoid of midfield fluidity and in need of reinforcements. His contract expires at the end of June, meaning he could be signed for free.

There are questions over his attitude. That is something Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will need to think about. Either way, regardless of the player’s temperament, only Paul Pogba can be definitively classed as better with the ball from United’s current midfield options. The club needs a player like Rabiot.
