Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed what fans had originally feared as he revealed Ashley Young will be the club’s official captain this season.
Antonio Valencia was the man with the armband in the last campaign but due to his numerous injuries, the veteran Englishman often filled in for him.
Fans debated over who deserved it most with often De Gea and Pogba put forward but Solskjaer has opted for Young instead.
It’s not entirely a surprise given the former Watford man is one of the most senior players at the club who has also been at Old Trafford for a while.

The silver lining is that it appears Solskjaer is hinting Young won’t feature much which makes sense given Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s arrival.
It’s likely the winger-turned-right-back will have only a rotational role this season so the question is who will captain the team when he’s not in the starting XI.
Once again the captain’s armband has been passed around this pre-season so there’s no certainty but the lack of leadership is a concern for Solskjaer.
