Eric Bailly set for November return from injury at Manchester United – report

Eric Bailly has responded well to treatment for a knee injury sustained in July and is targeting a return to action by November, according to reports.

The Ivorian suffered knee ligament damage in July during a pre-season contest with Tottenham Hotspur and underwent surgery.

It was originally thought that Bailly would miss five months of action, with a return around December said to be the most likely outcome.

However, according to ESPN‘s Mark Ogden, Bailly is recovering well and is set for a return a month ahead of schedule.

The defender could be fit in time for the club’s trip to Sheffield United in the Premier League on November 23.

That said, this is Eric Bailly we are speaking about. One report from last season said that Jose Mourinho was fuming at how some players in his squad were “permanently injured”, and I am convinced this was a carefully designed attack on Bailly (and Marcos Rojo).

The 25-year-old always seems to be just around the corner from another injury, such is his cavalier attitude towards lunging himself into things. Bailly is, unlike others in the squad, a genuinely top-class defender, but that means very little if he is on the treatment table.
