Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed that Daniel James picked up a knock during the win over Leicester City and will miss Thursday’s meeting with Astana as a result.
James has been a revelation since the start of the season, scoring three goals in four starts for the club alongside claiming another cracker for Wales over the international break.
Solskjaer confirmed at his press conference on Wednesday that the Welshman would not play a part against Astana.
The boss did not suggest that the affliction was anything worse than just a knock, meaning that James ought to return in time for Sunday’s important trip to West Ham United.
In the meantime, the absence of James and Anthony Martial, along with Solskjaer potentially resting Marcus Rashford, gives the exciting academy vanguard of Mason Greenwood, Tahith Chong and Angel Gomes chances to impress on the European stage ahead of James hopefully returning to the left flank over the weekend.
