Manchester United fans in despair after David de Gea suffers groin injury

Manchester United fans have reacted with a mixture of humour and sheer despair after David de Gea was added to the club’s growing injury list.

The Spaniard was forced off during Spain’s 1-1 draw with Sweden on Tuesday night, ruling him out of Sunday’s meeting with Liverpool.

Such an injury adds to a growing sense of doom ahead of a game which hardly any United fan is looking forward to.

Here is how some United fans reacted to the news that their best player was injured ahead of facing Jurgen Klopp’s men.

Some people might say that, with the injury of De Gea, United’s chances of winning have gone from slight to zero.

What others might say, however, is that the stars are aligning for a truly wonderful smash and grab: De Gea and Paul Pogba injured; Luke Shaw, Anthony Martial and Aaron Wan-Bissaka are possibly injured as well; United two points above the relegation zone; Liverpool with 17 Premier League wins on the trot, eight points clear.

In circumstances such as these, in this climate change era, 4-0 to United is actually not a bad shout. No, really. Put money on it (don’t do that).
