Manchester United are weighing up the prospect of making a January bid for Edinson Cavani, according to reports.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has called on the Man United board to prioritise landing a striker in the next transfer window.
The club has been heavily criticised for dispensing with and then failing to replace attacking duo Romelun Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez over the summer.
According to 90min, United’s first-choice striker is Mario Mandzukic, who could be available for £9m, but have also decided to closely monitor the Uruguay international.
Cavani, now in his seventh season at the Parc des Princes, will not receive a contract extension in Paris and can therefore leave for free next summer, but United need reinforcements before that.
They will, in turn, need to pay a fee of some kind, but it is not expected to be much for a 32-year-old whose best years are behind him.
United are set to face competition from Atletico Madrid, who also seem short up front having only scored seven times in eight La Liga fixtures so far this term.
