Manchester United fans react to confirmation that Paul Pogba will be injured until December

Manchester United supporters were surprisingly unconcerned by confirmation that Paul Pogba would be out of action until December.

The Frenchman has been impeded by a foot injury sustained during a 1-1 draw with Southampton prior to the September international break.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed after Man United’s 3-1 win over Norwich City that November 24 would be Pogba’s earliest possible return date.

The reaction to news of United’s best player being sidelined for another month was, well, angry – less at the situation, though, and more at Pogba himself.

These sentiments are rooted in the fact that United fans simply have not seen Pogba perform at his blistering best since the opening day of the season, which feels like light years ago.

In the minds of most United fans, then, Pogba becomes an elusive, estranged figure, probably plotting some plan for world destruction, most definitely lining up a move to Real Madrid.

What we really need – and it is this simple – is another blisteringly good performance from the 26-year-old. Recency bias is a powerful thing in football, and a sweeping midfield performance from Pogba would turn the tide very quickly.
