Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford find the key to beat Wolverhampton Wanderers

by Red Billy

Whilst Manchester United’s winning goal against Wolves this evening seemed far from inevitable, the architects of it came as no surprise.

A brilliant pass by the Red Devils’ talisman Bruno Fernandes was tucked away by the superb Marcus Rashford, with the help of a deflection off a Wolves defender.

Fernandes’ assist means that he has been directly involved in 15 goals in his last 15 appearances for United, an amazing statistic.

He has also recorded 23 goal involvements in as many games this season.

Rashford is almost as prolific and has now registered 35 goal involvements since the start of last season.

The England international has 14 goals and eight assists in 24 games this term.

The two players have scored 27 goals between them so far in 2020/21.

Fernandes could have notched a goal himself in the first half when he hit an inch-perfect pass from Mason Greenwood straight at Wolves’ keeper Rui Patricio.

Rashford has also missed an earlier opportunity when he headed over the bar from close range.

But eventually the pair linked in the fourth minute of injury time to seal the three points and lift the Red Devils to second place in the table, just two points behind leaders Liverpool.

Next up in the Premier League is another home fixture against in-form Aston Villa on Friday before the big game at Anfield on January 17th.
