Adnan Januzaj picked up the Golden Boot in the Blue Stars FIFA Youth Cup in Zurich this week after scoring all four of Manchester United’s goals in the tournament.
The achievement is extremely impressive when you consider that Januzaj is not a striker at all. He normally operates out on the left wing.
The 18-year-old may not have made the bench yesterday against Swansea but the future looks so bright for the Belgian. His phenomenally quick progression through United’s U18s to the U21s is a testament to just how talented he is.
He may not have had the chance to have his United debut under the watchful eye of Sir Alex Ferguson but his progress hasn’t gone unnoticed seeing as he earned a squad number for the rest of the season.
United’s continual promotion of youth will be a tradition that continues under David Moyes and there is a real buzz about what Januzaj might be able to do when he reaches the senior squad because players with talent as natural as his don’t come around that often.
Wonderfully balanced and technically gifted, his ability to find an incisive pass and create chances really stands out at U21s level and it won’t be long before he gets a chance to impress in the first team.
